There are many types of spark plugs. Which one is best for motorcycle engines?

Update:18 Oct, 2024

1. Classification by material

(1) Nickel alloy spark plug
Features: Affordable price and stable performance.
Applicable scenarios: Suitable for most daily riding motorcycles and can meet basic ignition needs.

(2) Iridium spark plug
Features: Made of rare precious metal iridium, it has an extremely high melting point and excellent conductivity. It can remain stable under extreme working conditions and produce powerful and concentrated sparks, greatly improving combustion efficiency and power output.
Applicable scenarios: Suitable for motorcycles that pursue higher performance, such as racing cars or performance cars.

2. Classification by shape

(1) Standard spark plug
Features: The electrode is flat and parallel to the center line of the cylinder, and the ignition energy is large.
Applicable scenarios: Suitable for high-speed, high-compression ratio engines, such as racing cars or some high-performance motorcycles.

(2) Protruding insulator spark plug
Features: The electrode part protrudes outside the insulator, and the ignition energy is large.
Applicable scenarios: Applicable to engines with high compression ratio, high speed and high power, such as motorcycles running at high speed.

(3) Electrode type spark plug
Features: The electrode part is cylindrical and the ignition energy is moderate.
Applicable scenarios: Applicable to general motorcycle engines.

(4) Seat type spark plug
Features: The electrode part is cylindrical and the ignition energy is small.
Applicable scenarios: Applicable to engines with low compression ratio, such as some old motorcycles.

(5) Pole type spark plug
Features: The electrode part is slender needle-shaped and the ignition energy is small.
Applicable scenarios: Applicable to engines with low speed and low power, such as some small motorcycles.

(6) Surface spark plug
Features: The electrode part is flat and the ignition energy is small.
Applicable scenarios: Applicable to engines with low speed and low power, such as some small motorcycles.

3. Classification by applicable engine type

(1) 70 type spark plug
Applicable scenarios: Applicable to horizontal cylinder engines such as 70, 90, 100, 110, gy6, etc.
(2) Short-mouth spark plug
Applicable scenarios: Applicable to two-stroke 80, 50 and other models.
(3) CG125 type universal spark plug
Applicable scenarios: Applicable to various CG, CB models 125, 150, etc.
(4) Lingying 125 spark plug
Applicable scenarios: Applicable to Lingying 125, Japanese-made 250/400, etc.
