1. Clarify the core parameters of the engine
Engine type and power: Select the calorific value of the industrial spark plug according to the engine type, power and speed range. For example, high-speed, high-power gas generator sets need to use high-calorific value cold-type spark plugs (such as calorific value 7-9), while low-speed agricultural machinery uses medium-low calorific value (calorific value 4-6) spark plugs.
Compression ratio and fuel type: High compression ratio (such as turbocharged engines of mining machinery) need to be matched with high-calorific value spark plugs to avoid pre-ignition; if low-octane fuels such as natural gas are used, industrial spark plugs made of iridium or platinum with stronger anti-knock properties need to be selected.
2. Matching of key parameters of spark plugs
Calor value selection——
Cold-type spark plugs (calorific value 7-9): suitable for high-temperature, high-load industrial scenarios (such as generator sets, ship engines), fast heat dissipation, and avoid electrode ablation.
Thermal spark plugs (calorific value 1-3): suitable for industrial equipment with low temperature or frequent start and stop (such as agricultural tractors). Thermal spark plugs can reduce the generation of carbon deposits and extend the use of machines.
Note: The calorific value must be consistent with the original factory requirements. Deviations exceeding 1 level may cause detonation or carbon deposits! ! !
Electrode material and life--
Nickel alloy electrode: low cost, suitable for low-load scenarios (such as general industrial equipment), life of about 500 hours.
Platinum/iridium electrode: high temperature resistance, strong corrosion resistance, suitable for high speed or some environment (such as offshore platforms, mining machinery, etc.), life of more than 1000 hours.
Special needs: If the fuel contains sulfur or corrosive substances (such as biogas), galvanized steel shell or ceramic insulator reinforced model is required.
Thread size and clearance--
Thread diameter: The thread size of 14mm (standard) or 12mm (compact) commonly used in industry must be fully matched with the engine cylinder to avoid leakage or installation damage.
Gap adjustment: The conventional gap is 0.6-1.0mm. The high compression ratio engine needs to be adjusted to between 0.8-1.0mm to enhance the ignition energy. A gap error exceeding ±0.1mm may cause a misfire.
3. Environment and working condition adaptation
For high temperature and vibration environments, laser welding electrodes and hexagonal reinforced structures are selected to improve vibration resistance and prevent tool slippage.
For ships or humid environments, galvanized shells are preferred to avoid salt spray corrosion.
For high-load continuous operation, gas generator sets need to be equipped with capacitor discharge ignition systems to support lean combustion conditions and extend the life of spark plugs.
Mining machinery recommends multi-side pole design to reduce flame extinguishing effect and improve ignition stability.
The selection of industrial spark plugs should be based on engine parameters, environmental challenges and material performance. Priority should be given to matching calorific value and thread size, taking into account brand reliability and maintenance convenience.
